ARTIST STATEMENT

I do what I do because of the ever growing artworld expanding within me . I am overwhelmed with a euphoric sense of creation when my brain guides me through a beautiful world which I fully realize through illustration, painting, animation, and sculptures. I listen within and realize that I have subconsciously created certain figures and objects in a way that they have relationship with each other. I have found my way to express femininity, mental health, and perception of the world in a colorful playful way. Connecting with the innocence of childhood and mixing it with the grotesque realities of the world is essential in my work and a way to show the beauty in every situation. Each of my creations has its own personality, symbolism, and lore which constantly evolves my never ending artworld. The creatures that reside in my universe are unique, twisted ethereal beings that are always filled with comfort and hope. I listen to the world inside and create what I see knowing that the ending result will surprise me just as much as the viewer.

  • Tempest

"Tempest" 2018, created for the show "BRINK" has been a work of self exploration and crossing boundaries as an artist. I have gravitated from figure shapes to a more simple round shape for now. Focusing more on the simplicity while at the same time adding more details. This work is a whirlwind, typhoon and storm of creativity, on the edge of creation and self exploration which will keep growing.

  • HEALING

"I attended the Gorillaz concert at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto in 2017. I danced and moved as one with the audience where each beat, tone and vocal was felt at such vulnerability, unity and pure joy, it is a moment I will forever cherrish. As the night continued, the song 'don't get lost in heaven' started to form and at that moment it unlocked a part of me that was hurt and damaged by the assault that occured in my past which, sadly, this song had a personal assosiation to it that would serve as a painful reminder. As I was in tears in the middle of the crowd this girl turned to me, saw that I was crying and she just hugged me with such understanding, love and kindness, i dont even think she realized what impact that had on me. It changed my entire association with the memory which turned it into something positive, powerful and a reminder that I will get through this. I decided to put my feelings and emotions into an artpiece that is created with the purpose to inspire those who feel lost, alone and to let you know that you are not alone."
